There are many applications requiring the ability to record neurophysiological information from multiple sites in animal and other preparations. Recording of EEG data is a classic example of such an application. In animal sleep research, multi-channel systems collect EEG and EMG data from several animals simultaneously. The use of special electrode arrays enables investigators to monitor and track neural firing from many anatomical sites. Signal conditioning systems having 16 and 32 channels are not uncommon for these types of applications. This section of the catalog details two multi-channel signal conditioning systems. Both systems feature analog inputs and outputs and are designed to interface with a wide range of ancillary instrumentation; oscilloscopes, chart and tape recorders, and computers. All are powered from medical-grade regulated power supplies, have optional DC amplifiers, and except for the 15LT, are configured for standard 19" rackmounting in Grass and other compatible instrument racks and cabinets. The Model 15LT and 15 systems feature patient isolation, software control of amplifier gain, filter and calibration parameters. When used with Grass PolyVIEW® 16 or Gamma® software packages, these functions are embedded which simplifies system setup and control. For high electrode impedance applications, an optional high impedance probe, Model HZP and 15BIHIP are available for Model 15 and 15LT systems. This maintains the high frequency response of the system when high impedance electrodes are used. Modularity facilitates the configuration of systems having only the number of channels needed for a particular application with field expansion capabilities later by the user. The plug-in design provides an economical approach to system configuration. All Grass Amplifier Systems are designed with the safety of the subject and operator in mind. Most are certified to world-wide medical safety standards. |
