| AURA24
(Ambulatory Universal Recording Amplifier) is the newest amplifier
system from Grass Technologies with a front-end sampling rate of
400 Hz.
The 28-channel
system has the capability of recording data for 24-hours with the
rechargeable battery pack. There are 2 reference inputs and 2 ground
inputs. The redundant references and grounds provide reliability
and signal integrity during EEG monitoring procedures.
Data is recorded to a removable CompactFlash memory card. The compact
and lightweight design of AURA24 offers maximum patient comfort,
without sacrificing the ruggedness required for ambulatory studies.
The data stored on the AURA24 transfers to the host computer with
Grass Technologies TWin® software via the USB CompactFlash Reader.
A Patient Event Marker pushbutton is provided.
The amplifier system provides for patient safety isolation, signal
conditioning (physiological signal amplification and filtering),
and digitization. Communications with a host computer are accomplished
using TCP/IP protocol over an Ethernet network or dedicated cable.
While the patient is being setup, the AURA24 (via the base station)
connects to the host PC for initializing the recording, selecting
the record montage, checking impedances, entering patient information,
and monitoring the quality of EEG signals. Once done, the AURA24
is disconnected from the base, the patient is sent home, and data
will record to the built-in CompactFlash.
Once the 24 hours of data is transferred from the CompactFlash to
the review station, the study can be processed with Grass Technologies
proven seizure and spike detection software for identifying events
of interest. This, along with events marked with the patient pushbutton,
helps reduce the amount of data which needs to be reviewed.
An intuitive user interface with LCD screen is present with the
base station. From the base station itself, the technologist is
able to implement such features as electrode impedance checking,
amplifier calibration, and photic stimulator control. Also from
the LCD display it is possible to obtain information such as connection
status to the host computer.
The same AURA24 ambulatory system can be used for in-lab recordings
when connected to the host PC, including optional photic
stimulation, pulse oximetry, additional
DC channels, etc. Data is recorded to the PCs hard disk or a server.
Grass Technologies manufactures a full line of EEG
and Long-term Epilepsy recording instruments and Review Workstations.
The TWin software is easy-to-use, providing
data acquisition, recording, and review capabilities in one flexible
package.
Grass Technologies amplifiers are world-renowned in the field of
neurophysiology for their quality, reliability, simplicity, and
serviceability. A wide range of accessories and options designed
specifically for the EEG monitoring is also available.
