Astro-Med
to Present at Inaugural Chinese Association Against Epilepsy Meeting
WEST WARWICK, R.I.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 16, 2005--Grass Technologies,
a Product Group of Astro-Med, Inc. (NASDAQ:ALOT) has been selected to
give a technical presentation at the first ever Chinese Association
Against Epilepsy (CAAE) conference in Beijing, People's Republic of
China, which will be held on June 24-25, 2005.
The newly formed CAAE is a national, non-governmental, non-profit organization
composed of epileptologists, other professionals and people who are
interested and/or working at epilepsy treatment, prevention, research
and care; including people with epilepsy and their family members and
local epilepsy related organizations.
During the past two decades, great effort has been made to form a national
association against epilepsy in China. Epileptologists have been organized
in groups in many provinces and cities under the leadership of local
medical associations. The Beijing Association Against Epilepsy was formed
and approved by local government in 1991. In 2002, efforts were expedited
and the application of China Association Against Epilepsy (CAAE) was
approved by the Ministry of Health of China in early 2004.
The Official Inauguration of the CAAE will take place on June 24, 2005
at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing with professional conferences
to follow on the 25th. CAAE already has more than 1700 registered individual
members and is expecting several hundred attendees from all over China
to participate in the conference.
Commenting on inclusion in the inaugural event, Eric Menke, International
Sales Manager for Astro-Med said: "Grass Technologies is very honored
to be the only non-Chinese company invited to present at this prestigious
event. China's potential market presents a great opportunity for any
U.S. company and it is clear that Grass Technologies is already held in
high regard among epileptologists and neurologists in China."
The Grass Technologies Product Group of Astro-Med designs, manufactures,
and sells a broad range of advanced EEG and PSG (sleep monitoring) systems,
Long Term Epilepsy systems, as well as a broad range of products for
neurophysiological research employed around the world in a wide range
